Therapy is a place to unload feelings of depression, anxiety, insecurities and doubt. Therapy can be a catalyst to change through work and challenges.
Adriana Martinez-Khoker, LCSW
Owner & Psychotherapist
I always knew I wanted to help people. I wasn’t sure what that would look like until I volunteered at Zucker Hillside Hospitals’ inpatient psychiatric unit during college. It was then that I had the opportunity to interact with social workers for the first time, and learn about individual therapy, group and art therapy. I’ve been in practice for 8 years with specialized training in CBT, ACT, EMDR, REBT and mindfulness techniques. I enjoy utilizing an eclectic approach with clients to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual. As a Hispanic woman of color, I am conscious of the role culture, race, and socioeconomic status might play in the therapeutic process, and make sure to apply a cultural and social lens throughout my work with clients.
My goal as a therapist is to find solutions that work for you on an individual basis. I utilize the initial session to explore the different domains of your life that make up who you are. At the end of our first session, we will discuss your goals for treatment and what the path to getting there might look like.
I believe through work and challenges, change is not only possible but sustainable. I offer compassionate feedback, empathetic listening, and challenges to the distorted perceptions we carry with us throughout life. I offer a safe space to unpack heavy baggage and hopefully get you feeling a bit lighter every time. My gentle humor and compassionate and collaborative style when working with clients, mirrors my commitment to diligently maintaining my own learning to ensure that I am consciously supporting you throughout treatment.
Whether you’re looking for support or guidance through a particularly difficult time, or you’re open to change in your life and where you’re going, together, we can work to achieve dreams, and meet your goals.
